Bandai is a widely know and professional company within the anime/manga world. I went into playing this game due because of two things. I love dbz and I play the crap out of One Piece: Treasure Cruise. I thought since this game was made by the same people that it would also hold the same quality and depth that their highly praised OPTC does, but after playing through the first couple dozen of so levels in the game Ive come to the conclusion that it does not live up to One Piece at all. Firstly, one thing that makes the one piece game so great is that you can acquire new actual characters that matter in the story missions as well as in daily and weekly areas. Not in Dbz dokkan battle. I never once got anything higher than the occasional rare "R" character, and they werent even all that good. The only way to get even above average characters is by doing the rare pull for 5 stones (in game premium currency) for the CHANCE to get one. Now you can do this too in One Piece, but not only does it seem like you have much higher chances of pulling a good character, but their are more characters in general. Secondly, the fighting mechanics arent all that challenging or interesting in any way. Other than switching characters to defend better or attack with more strength, it isnt all that involved. I won pretty much every battle with ease, and my characters werent all that good. Plus, literally all of the characters specials are then same. All of them! They all just do damage to the opposition, trust me, I looked. And lastly, unlike in One Piece, you cannot evolve characters you get in game at all. For example, lets just say you get a normal form Goku, pretty cool right? Well of course you would think, hey wouldnt it be awesome if I could turn him super saiyan? Ill just level him up and then evolve him with the awakening metals or whatever to get SSGoku!! Wrong! All there is right now is awakening, which pretty much just increasing you characters stats. No getting any super saiyans, or perfect cell, or kid buu in this game by actually playing and leveling your characters to max in order to transform them, oh no. The ONLY way you can get higher rank characters in this game is by buying them with premium currency or doing the super tough extra areas which will take you way more time than it takes to give up on this game to achieve. In conclusion, unless the developers make at least the change in order to evolve your characters, Im not coming back.
